Peshawar Zalmi's captain Babar Azam completed 500 runs in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season nine during Qualifier 1 at Karachi's National Bank Cricket Arena.
The 29-year-old reached to 500-run mark for the third time in a single edition of PSL. He scored 554 runs in the 2021 edition while in 2023, he scored 522 runs.
Only, Mohammad Rizwan had scored 500 or more in three editions of PSL. Multan Sultans' captain achieved the feat in 2021 by scoring 500 runs, followed by 546 runs in 2022 and 550 in 2023.
Lahore Qalandars' batter Fakhar Zaman holds the record for scoring the most runs in a single edition of PSL. The left-handed batter did that in 2022 by scoring 588 runs.
It must be noted that the Qualifier 1 between Zalmi and Sultans is currently underway. Babar Azam won the toss and Zalmi are batting first.

The top teams are clashing in an exciting battle for supremacy that will also determine the first finalist of an action-packed PSL season.
The Sultans were the first team to reach the tournament playoffs with seven wins in their ten league stage matches, before being joined by the Zalmi franchise who won six out of their ten games.
